BBA Aviation ERO History
1932 – Edwin Booth founds Piston Engine Overhaul Company, now Dallas Airmotive, at Dallas Love Field.
1946 – Company begins work on Pratt & Whitney R1830 and R2000 radial engines. H+S Aviation founded in Portsmouth, UK.
1950 – Piston Engine Overhaul Company changes its name to Dallas Airmotive. Pratt & Whitney Canada awards contracts for several military jet engines.
1956 – Premier Turbines (then the Rocketdyne Division of Rockwell International) is founded in Neosho, Missouri, to manufacture and test rockets such as the Thor, Atlas, Jupiter and Saturn for the U.S. military and NASA space programs.
1957 – Dallas Airmotive becomes the first independent R&O company to receive FAA certification for turbine engine repair.
1959 – Dallas Airmotive receives its first OEM authorizations from Pratt & Whitney for the JT3 and from Rolls-Royce for the Dart turboprop and Spey turbojet.
1960 – Dallas Airmotive receives OEM authorization from General Electric for the CJ610.
1967 – Dallas Airmotive is OEM-authorized by Pratt & Whitney Canada for PT6A series, and by Allison Engine Company (now Rolls-Royce) for the Model 250 turboshaft.
1968 – Premier Turbines facility sold to Continental Aviation and Engineering (later Teledyne CAE) and converted from rocket production to gas turbine engine overhaul.
1974 – Dallas Airmotive receives OEM authorization from Pratt & Whitney Canada for the JT15D series.
1985 – Rolls-Royce grants Dallas Airmotive authorization to perform overhaul and midlife repair on Tay turbofans.
1991 – Dallas Airmotive becomes a Honeywell-authorized overhaul facility and major service center for TPE331.
1997 – BBA Group plc acquires Dallas Airmotive.
1998 – BBA Group acquires H+S Aviation and Airwork Corporation. Dallas Airmotive wins authorization as a major service center for Honeywell TFE731 and from Pratt & Whitney Canada as an overhaul facility for PW100 series.
2000 – Dallas Airmotive acquires Gulfstream Engine Services (Dallas) and its authorizations for Honeywell engines and Hamilton Sundstrand APUs.
2003 – BBA Group acquires Premier Turbines to add TFE731 core zone inspection (CZI) capability to its engine services portfolio.
2004 – Pratt & Whitney Canada authorizes Dallas Airmotive for repair and overhaul of the PW300 and PW500.
2007 – Dallas Airmotive celebrates 75 years of service to aircraft operators.
2008 – BBA Aviation ERO adds Barrett Turbine Engines Services and International Turbine Service to its growing portfolio. BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul group of companies offers OEM-authorized R&O services on 21 major engine types.
2009 – H+S Aviation receives OEM authorization for PT6T TwinPac repair and overhaul. Premier Turbines appointed Designated Repair Center for GE M601 engines.
